50 years of learning by doing
In 1975, my dad, Philip Sykes, was an in-house lawyer who believed that people developed commercial judgement more effectively through experience than instruction. That belief led him to create the first version of Bissim.
I joined him in 1993 and have since designed and delivered simulation programmes across sectors and around the world. Along the way, we’ve learnt from our clients, facilitators and thousands of participant experiences.
Today, Simulation Training remains a small, specialist business. Each programme is shaped around the commercial world and objectives of the client, while drawing on more than fifty years of accumulated experience. The constants are commercial realism, dramatic tension, emotional engagement and relevance.

What are we like to work with?
We think of Simulation Training as a ‘hobby business’, in what we believe is the best sense. Growth in sales or profits is not our main aim. We want to do work we enjoy and create programmes we can be proud of.
For our clients, that means meeting the aims of both the organisation and the people we’re working with, being straightforward to deal with and, of course, providing a great participant experience.
What people say

"The simulation has really added value to our business. It challenged and stimulated colleagues' thinking, strengthened teamwork and enhanced their understanding of the challenges faced by our customers." Lloyds Bank
"As a Marketeer by trade, I didn't expect to enjoy a finance-heavy module, but the business simulation completely changed that... Out of all the modules so far, the learnings have been applied most to my day-to-day role." MBA Graduate, Warwick Business School
